About the journal



Folia Uralica Debreceniensia is the journal of the Department of Finno-Ugric Linguistics at the University of Debrecen. It was first published in 1989 and it has been published annually since 1994. The aim of the journal is to provide a platform of publication for Hungarian and foreign researchers of Finno-Ugric languages and culture.
The journal has five columns: a) Essays, b) Reviews, c) In honorem, d) In memoriam, d) Chronicle.
a) Essays. We accept essays for publication in Hungarian, English, German, Russian and Finnish. The maximum accepted length is 60 000 characters (including spaces). The main focus of the journal is Finno-Ugric linguistics, but essays within the field of ethnography and prehistoric studies are also welcome. An English (or Russian or German) summary and 5-6 keywords are required for each essay.
b) Reviews. Reviews on monographs, collections of essays or commemorative volumes published within the scope of Finno-Ugric linguistics and culture are welcome for publication.

Essays are peer reviewed by two, papers submitted to other columns by one colleague.
The journal is published once a year, in the last quarter of the calendar year.
Honorariums are not paid for the submitted papers.
Authors are not required to pay a publication fee.

Folia Uralica Debreceniensia is listed among the journals approved by the I. Scientific Section of Linguistics and Literary Scholarship of the Hungarian Academy of Sciences with “NAT” classification.
MTMT lists the journal among peer reviewed scientific journals with MTID number 10009995.
The publishers responsible are the Debrecen University Press and the Department of Finno-Ugric Linguistics at the University of Debrecen.
